I find these amazing bands... and then everyone else starts liking them!?

when i'm bored i get on sites like purevolume and find bands that no one listens to. i listen to top 40 stuff too, but i like having a band that's like my thing. but then my friends start listening to them and act like THEY found them! and take credit for it and stuff. next thing i know, the whole school is listening to them. i know imitation is the highest form of flattery or whatever... it just REALLY gets old. am i being really unreasonable here? what should i do? something? nothing? = /
