Can a user on IRC detect when a whois is executed on his nick?

I was on Undernet doing some... uh... chatting and I noticed that some of the ops in one of my channels are ops in #do.not.whois.me as well. I imagine that if one were to join that channel, that person would be immediately kick-banned from several channels. Needless to say, I'm hesitant to disrupt my... conversations.
